Steves: A Perth Institution Since 1908

Steves has been a cornerstone of the Perth community for over a century. Originally built in 1908 as the Nedlands Park Hotel, it was once a residential hotel for country residents, even serviced by a tram from the city center. In 1935, the hotel was purchased by Stephen McHenry and affectionately became known as "Steves." Since then, it has remained a beloved venue, establishing its place in both Perth's hospitality industry and the hearts of the Western suburbs.

After acquiring the freehold in 1977, the McHenry family led a major renovation, reopening in 2009 to bring Steves into the modern era while preserving its storied history. Today, Steves Bar & Cafe is open 7 days a week, offering fresh, modern Australian cuisine with Japanese-inspired touches, using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients to create a vibrant, ever-evolving menu.

Beyond the restaurant, Steves is also known for its stunning event spaces. Whether it's a cozy gathering in our private wine cellar, a celebration on the lawn, or a corporate event in the alfresco area, our venue offers the perfect setting for any occasion. Our dedicated events team ensures every detail is looked after, making each function at Steves as memorable as the next.
