About the producer
Champagne Egly-Ouriet
Egly-Ouriet is a grower-producer (récoltant-manipulant) based in Ambonnay, run by fourth-generation vigneron Francis Egly, who took over the estate from his father and converted it to 100% estate-grown, estate-bottled production, making him one of the pioneers of the modern grower Champagne movement. Farming organically and biodynamically across old vines averaging around 50 years of age, Egly favours barrel fermentation, minimal intervention, and extended lees ageing to let Ambonnay's chalk terroir speak clearly. Wine writer Peter Liem has described Egly-Ouriet as the Champagne house that most fits the phrase "Burgundy with bubbles." Today Francis is joined by the next generation of the family in continuing this precise, terroir-driven style.
