Egly-Ouriet Vieillissement Prolongé (V.P.) Grand Cru Extra Brut NV
"V.P." stands for Vieillissement Prolongé, prolonged ageing, and this cuvée is Egly-Ouriet's cellar treasure: essentially the Grand Cru bottling given significantly extended maturation, typically 7–8 years (84+ months) on lees rather than the standard 48 months. Each release is based on a specific vintage plus older reserve wines, so the blend composition shifts from disgorgement to disgorgement, but the extended ageing consistently delivers extra textural depth, complexity and savoury development.
Colour :
Pale yellow to golden hue.
Nose :
Expressive and layered - dried pear, crushed white flowers, mint, chamomile, spiced pear, toast and light pastry notes, often with tangerine peel and honey developing with air.
Palate :
Broad, powerful and intense, medium- to full-bodied with a racy, concentrated core, fine pinpoint mousse and a long, dry, saline finish.
