Warm, moderate season with a very compact harvest finished by Easter. Fruit from Blocks 20 and 22 (planted 1976/1978); 30% whole-bunch pressed to new Burgundian oak, the rest to new Bordelais oak. Leads with power and density; Ray Jordan ranked it among the top Leeuwin Chardonnays.

Nose: Salted pear, white peach, nectarine, red apple skin, preserved citrus and crushed shell

Palate: Opulent, generous mid-palate with minerality and tension; staggering length

Leeuwin Estate
Leeuwin Estate is a family-owned Margaret River estate founded by Denis and Tricia Horgan, who bought the property in 1969 and planted vines from 1974 with early guidance from Robert Mondavi. The first commercial release was in 1979. The Art Series, labelled with paintings commissioned from leading Australian artists, is its flagship range and the Art Series Chardonnay is one of Australia's most collected white wines.
