Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay 2021
Warm, moderate season with a very compact harvest finished by Easter. Fruit from Blocks 20 and 22 (planted 1976/1978); 30% whole-bunch pressed to new Burgundian oak, the rest to new Bordelais oak. Leads with power and density; Ray Jordan ranked it among the top Leeuwin Chardonnays.
Colour: Brilliant pale straw with a subtle green edge
Nose: Floral: jasmine, white garden rose, wisteria and lemon blossom; chamomile, ginger, nutmeg and almond meal with flint, graphite and chalk undertones; pear, lemon flesh and white nectarine
Palate: Energetic and balanced; fresh lime and nashi pear, creamy lees, oak spice, saline wet-stone minerality and pure acidity leading to a persistent finish
