Penfolds 'Bin 389' Cabernet Shiraz 2021 MAGNUM | Year of the Dragon Limited Release
This limited-edition magnum of Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz 2021, released to celebrate the Year of the Dragon for Lunar New Year 2024, showcases a standout vintage of South Australian winemaking. Presented in a striking metallic gift box adorned with a stylised dragon—symbolising strength, prosperity, and vitality—this 1.5L collector’s release is both a statement of tradition and a celebration of craft.
Often referred to as “Baby Grange,” Bin 389 blends the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the plush generosity of Shiraz, and is matured in barrels previously used for Grange. First produced in 1960, it remains one of the most cellared and admired wines in the Penfolds collection. The 2021 vintage offers exceptional depth and ageing potential, made all the more desirable in this commemorative magnum format.
Appearance: Deep crimson with a glossy ruby rim.
Nose: Aromatic layers of cassis, dark chocolate, mocha and baking spice, with accents of roasted chestnut and polished French oak.
Palate: Supple yet commanding, showing blackberry, dark cherry and cocoa, wrapped in fine-grained tannins. Balanced and savoury, with a long, mineral-edged finish that promises graceful ageing.
