Standish The Relic Shiraz Viognier 2018
The 2018 Relic comes from the east-facing Hongell Family Vineyard in Krondorf, where a small amount of Viognier is co-fermented with Shiraz - a nod to Dan Standish's time in France's Rhône Valley. The Viognier lifts the aromatics and adds a fine floral edge, apricot and white pepper, over a core of dark berry fruit and silky, refined tannins
Appearance:
Developing garnet-ruby, with a brick-toned edge showing graceful maturity.
Nose:
Dried apricot and rose petal lift over dark cherry and plum, with white pepper and a touch of dried herb.
Palate:
Medium to full-bodied and silky, with succulent dark fruit, fine, resolved tannins and a floral, spiced thread running throughout.
Finish:
Long and perfumed, with lingering apricot, white pepper and soft dark fruit.
