Two Tonne 'Dog & Wolf' Pinot Noir 2020
The 2020 Dog & Wolf Pinot Noir by Two Tonne Tasmania embodies the delicate balance between the familiar and the wild, inspired by the French expression 'entre chien et loup', referring to dusk—the time when the distinction between dog and wolf blurs. This wine is a blend of two distinct winemaking styles: the first portion, picked early with 15% whole-bunch fermentation, offers concentrated flavors and structure; the second, harvested later and fermented with 100% whole bunches, introduces a more expressive and untamed character. Matured side by side, these components harmonize to create a Pinot Noir that balances elegance with power. Bottled without fining or filtration, it retains its raw authenticity.
Appearance: Vibrant ruby red with a bright, clear rim.
Nose: Warm, mineral-driven scents of flinty earth and slate, complemented by dark cherry, espresso, and a hint of dried herbs.
Palate: Rich and refined, featuring dark cherry and berry flavors intertwined with chewy, fine tannins. A mineral edge imparts a savory touch, accompanied by notes of hazelnut and spice.
Finish: Long and spicy, with a lingering flinty edge that adds to its intrigue.
