Pascal Agrapart is a benchmark producer of small-batch grower Champagne, based in the Chardonnay capital of Champagne, the village of Avize. Like a painter blending colours on his palette, Pascal combines 70 different micro-plots in the Côte des Blancs to create wines of incredible complexity and detail. He is often compared, in quality terms, to his (much more famous) neighbour, Anselme Selosse, though their styles are worlds apart. Pascal pursues purity and detail as opposed to the out-and-out power of Selosse. Producing no more than 6000 cases a year, these are legitimate small-batch releases that are increasingly sought-after the world over.
