Benjamin Leroux Chambolle Musigny 2017
Leroux’s 2017 Chambolle is drawn from a range of sites, not least a 1955 parcel of Les Véroilles, a site that’s perhaps the highest villages vineyard in Chambolle, sitting on terres blanches above Bonnes Mares. Then there’s a healthy addition of two 1er Cru vineyards, Les Cras and Les Chatelots (contributing one-third of the blend!), as well as a parcel in Bas Doix (on terres brunes under Les Amoureuses on the Vougeot border).
Using 50% whole bunches and 20% new oak, Leroux has sculpted a seductive Chambolle that has captivating aromas of red berries, ripe cherries, forest floor and subtle spices. Taking a sip reveals its velvety smooth texture, juicy raspberries on the palate.
