Château Margaux 1979

  • Critic tasting note: "Light ruby with bricking in the color, the wine is filled with cassis, spice, truffle, coffee and earthy notes. Refined in texture, this medium/full bodied wine is fully mature. The finish ends with cassis and spice flavors. There is no reason to age this wine any longer. It will not improve. This was my last bottle from the case. With a perfect fill, it was also the best of the 12. 92 Points" - 92/100, Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider

About the producer
Château Margaux
In the late 1970s, Margaux was purchased by the Greek-French entrepreneur Andre Mentzelopoulos. It was ranked number two behind Lafite in the 1855 Classification which has given rise to the saying: ‘If Lafite is the king of clarets Margaux is surely the queen.’ Margaux has a reputation for a perfume of violets, rose petals, cedar and dry ripe fruit.
