Planted in the early 1990s on deep schist-derived soils, Felton Road’s Block 3 is one of Bannockburn’s most revered Pinot Noir parcels. The north-east–facing slope offers gentle morning warmth while preserving tension and aromatic lift. The 2024 vintage was hand harvested and fermented with a high proportion of whole berries, using native yeasts in small open-top fermenters. Maturation took place in fine-grained French oak barrels, around 30% new, before being bottled unfiltered into magnums to encourage long, graceful evolution. This release exemplifies the precision, silken structure and site transparency that define Block 3.
Deep ruby with a youthful purple rim and brilliant clarity; the magnum format accentuates its vibrancy and luminosity.
Aromatic layers of wild strawberry, black cherry and rosehip tea, supported by subtle forest floor, dried thyme and tilled earth. Fine oak adds hints of cedar and sweet spice, while schist-borne minerality brings a cool, stony lift.
Medium bodied yet intensely concentrated, unfolding with dark plum, redcurrant and crushed raspberry. Silky tannins glide across the palate, interwoven with savoury elements of mushroom, dried herbs and graphite. Bright acidity lends precision and drive, finishing long, refined and mineral, with the magnum promising expanded complexity over time.
