McHenry Hohnen 'Laterite Hills' Chardonnay 2024
The 2024 'Laterite Hills' Chardonnay showcases McHenry Hohnen’s commitment to site transparency and biodynamic farming in the southern reaches of Margaret River. Sourced from select blocks across Calgardup Brook, Hazel’s, Burnside and Chapman Grove vineyards, all planted in ancient ironstone-rich lateritic soils, the fruit reflects a deep sense of place. Grapes were hand picked, whole bunch pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barriques, including a restrained use of new oak. The wine was matured on lees for 10 months without malolactic fermentation, preserving natural acidity and mineral drive. This hands-off approach results in a Chardonnay of depth, precision and regional integrity. It speaks clearly of vintage, soil and philosophy.
