McHenry Hohnen 'Rolling Stone' 2019
Rolling Stone is the pinnacle of McHenry Hohnen’s red winemaking. It is a powerful yet refined Bordeaux style blend from Hazel’s Vineyard, their most southerly and biodynamically farmed site in Margaret River. The 2019 vintage showcases Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot, each hand selected from the vineyard’s finest parcels. Fermented with wild yeasts in open stone fermenters and matured in French oak barrels, the wine captures both the rugged beauty of the site and the precision of thoughtful winemaking. It is dark, layered and structured, yet elegant in its detail. This is a wine crafted for collectors, built to evolve over time and destined for special moments.
Appearance
Deep garnet with bright crimson highlights and polished clarity.
Nose
Fragrant violet, cassis, black cherry and cedar, layered with black olive, bay leaf and dark chocolate.
Palate
Concentrated blackberries, dusty gravel texture and cedar spice. Firm but fine tannins lead into a long, savoury finish.
