Appearance:
Deep, bright crimson-purple to the rim.

Nose:
Plum and cassis lead, with tar, tobacco, bay leaf and iodine-like savoury notes, framed by cedar and toasty oak.

Palate:
Full-bodied yet fresh and linear; sappy, well-integrated tannins carry black currant and plum fruit through to a long, savoury, spice-and-herb finish.

About the producer
Woodlands Wines
Woodlands is a family-owned Margaret River winery established in 1973 by David and Heather Watson, among the first five vineyards planted in the region. Now run by sons Andrew and Stuart Watson, the estate farms the original Woodlands Vineyard on Caves Road and the Woodlands Brook Vineyard (added 2007/08), both in the Wilyabrup Valley subregion, using dry-grown, low-intervention and organically certified viticulture. Woodlands is best known for cabernet-based reds that regularly rival top Bordeaux in blind tastings, alongside acclaimed single-vineyard Chardonnay.
